How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?
When you become pregnant, your body produces a hormone called hCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, which builds up rapidly. A pregnancy test detects the amount of hCG hormone in your urine to determine if you’re pregnant.
Can I Take A Home Pregnancy Test?
Many over-the-counter pregnancy tests are accurate, but some are more sensitive than others. It’s always good to get a second opinion. Although home pregnancy tests can be reliable, mistakes are possible, and you could get a false test result. Come in and verify your pregnancy.
When Should I Take A Test?
Our free lab-quality tests can be more sensitive than some home tests and can be used even before a missed period. The temptation to take a pregnancy test early may not give you the most accurate results.
Your body needs time to build up enough of the hCG hormone to be detected. How soon you take a pregnancy test depends on your normal menstrual cycle. Is your period normally regular or irregular?
If your period is regular (every 28 to 32 days), you can take a pregnancy test a day or two after your missed period. If your periods are irregular, it’s best to wait for at least a week after your missed period.
What If The Test Is Positive?
